Artificial Intelligence allows machines to replicate the capabilities of the human mind. From the development of self-driving cars to the proliferation of smart assistants like Siri and Alexa, Artificial Intelligence has become a growing part of everyday life.

Artificial Intelligence allows machines to learn from experience, adjust to new inputs and perform human-like tasks. Most Artificial Intelligence examples you hear about today – from chess-playing computers to self-driving cars – rely heavily on deep learning and natural language processing. Using these technologies, computers can be trained to accomplish specific tasks by processing large amounts of data and recognizing patterns in it.

Artificial Intelligence is ideally suited to solve some of our most difficult problems, and Cyber Security certainly falls into that category.

Cyber Security is the practice of protecting systems, networks, and programs from digital attacks. These cyber-attacks are usually aimed at accessing, changing, or destroying sensitive information; extorting money from users; or interrupting normal business processes.

Implementing effective Cyber Security measures is particularly challenging today because there are more devices than people, and attackers are becoming more innovative. As a result, here comes in hand Artificial Intelligence.

Spam Detection

One of the most encountered uses of Artificial Intelligence in cybersecurity is spam detection. For instance, Gmail is one of the early users of Artificial Intelligence. It has been using Machine Learning techniques to filter emails since its launch. Gmail includes several Artificial Intelligence-driven filters that determine what gets marked as spam.

Fraud Detection

Another benefit of Artificial Intelligence is its use in fraud detection. Banks are finding that Artificial Intelligence for fraud detection is fast, effective, and efficient. It is especially used in the financial services industry. For example, analyzing transactions is one of the fundamental functions. From risk scoring to grouping consumers into identifiable clusters or "profiles", each application is essential to building a robust fraud detection strategy.

Malware Detection

Last but not least, the base of most anti-viruses is the ability of Artificial Intelligence to detect malware. Malware has been a serious threat to the security of organizations, and they evolve very rapidly. By using sophisticated algorithms, Artificial Intelligence systems are being trained to detect malware, run pattern recognition, and detect even the minutest behaviors of malware or ransomware attacks before it enters the system.

On the whole, Artificial Intelligence is thought to be a powerful tool, which, used by the right hands, can transform any Internet interaction into a safer one. Even though there is still a long way to go, it is expected that Artificial Intelligence will make robust and resilient cyber security systems that are adaptive, scalable, and automated.
