Sales in the digital era has changed. Earlier, traditional salesmen were good at hard-selling the customer. This meant that they would try all the tricks in the book like persuasion, closing techniques, and NLP to close the sale.

That doesn't work anymore in the digital era.

Wondering Why?

Let me tell you. Earlier the buyer did not have access to information like they do now. This means every potential buyer is highly aware or has access to information at the tip of his fingers

Hence the sales process has changed or evolved ever since the digital era.

However, sales still remain one of the most profitable careers in terms of money and skills. It teaches you soft skills, communication, body language, tonality, and much more which no other profession teaches.

Moreover, the commissions made by salesmen can sometimes be equivalent to that of Vice Presidents and Managers. Although this is just 1% of the top salesmen who are currently achieving these numbers.

Now that you're interested in Sales, you must be wondering but how do I get into this profession?

I don't have much experience?

That's the best part. Getting a job in sales is easy, however, being able to sustain the job and achieve your numbers can get tricky. There are many companies that offer jobs to freshers. These job opportunities can be the perfect launching pad for your sales career.

In order to make it in sales, it's ideal to have a positive attitude as you will be going through 100 “NO’s” to get through a “Yes”.

Hence due to the amount of rejection you will be facing, you need a positive attitude.

A quick tip to help with the rejection - Always remember, the prospect is rejecting the product and not “YOU”. Hence don't take it personally.

Moreover,  it would be ideal to develop your communication skills everyday as sales is all about communicating effectively. Hence, the fluent you are with your vocabulary and language, the easier it gets.

There are multiple sales gurus such as Jordan Belfort, Grant Cardone, Chriss Voss and many others who put tons of valuable sales information on Youtube.

You can learn from these professionals for free. It is ideal to watch and learn everyday as this will help you develop the right mindset which will allow you to sell better.

While working in sales, some things which you should avoid doing are shortcuts and laid back attitude. In sales, you have to be on top of your game everyday. This means you need to learn and upskill yourself everyday which will keep you motivated to hit your numbers.

Ideally, start your day with at least 30 minutes to 1 hour of watching content on sales. This will keep you sharp and you will notice the progress you will make if you regularly watch.

You have to look at yourself as an Athlete and train everyday to remain on top. Go to Linkedin and look for sales jobs under the “Jobs” tab. There are numerous companies who offer job roles to freshers.

All you need is a well-written CV and a good positive attitude.
