Founded in 1892, the Bhrigu Society was the first Ashram in the World where the Advaita philosophy was propagated and practiced. The Society's'sahasranamas' (Sanskrit: Gurukul, গুরুকুল) and 'akharnas' (Sanskrit: अखर्णसां, অখর्ণ) (teachers) were men from the highest strata of society who were also great thinkers. Many great scholars, teachers, thinkers, poets, writers, musicians, artists, technocrats and leaders from India and around the world have interacted with and stayed at these institutions.
Bhrigu Ashram was founded by the great poet like sage Bhrigu. Three wonders, i.e. "3 caves, "3 villages, "3 "karmas", i.e. the -'Bhrigu-kukko-ashram, the "Bhrigu-sabar Ashram, and the "Bhrigu-Manithaneswar". These institutions were founded during the 17th century CE, and were run by the "Bahu-ayurveda" the last disciples of Bhrigu. The "Vigilantism & Self-Sufficiency" system was started here in these three Ashrams. The Ashrams' victories over the English rule in the Indian sub-continent are very well-known.
He was a guide to the kings of Raja Ramdeo and Teja, finding the site of Mount Abu Hadarga. Desirous of ceasing his life of wandering, he built the temple at Auli on the Vindhya mountains, near Pathardi. It would have been completed in approximately 4600 BCE. Bhrigu's great grandson Rituchandra restored the temple.
Maharishi Bhrigu was fathered by Brahma, his father and he reared by sage Matatma and his wife Khyati. According to Sakrida’s Adiparva, Khyati was also fathered by the sage Chyavana. — “Fierce and stern in appearance, with suppressed passions, Bhrigu is fond of commerce and the arts, and he is always well dressed.” (Maha 3.8) a0fb89163a
