I tried the driver on my HTC phone and it works fine, so a driver problem is not the problem. I tried the driver on a Samsung device and it works fine, so the USB and BT dongle are working fine. Bluetooth audio device detects the headset when I turn it on and shows "connecting" instead of "paired", so the BT dongle is working fine. So it must be a driver problem. When I plug the headset in, it stays in the "connecting" mode. After a few seconds, it goes to the "paired" mode.
i should have taken the time to search for and install a new soundcard. after following the instructions on installing windows update drivers i went to install the bluetooth drivers from device manager. i was surprised how many drivers there were on the list. some of them were even for 8, 7 and 6.7 OS. i even had some for xp. some had even more. by installing each of the linked drivers i noticed that the soundcard was no longer being recognized. so, i selected every package, and continued. the only drivers i received did not get me over the hump for the headset to work. i was at an impasse. did i miss something?

BTW- you need to install drivers of Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7.
First I tried to uninstall (s)he said that all my bluetooth devices will be removed (which I dont think is true) and then go to Bluetooth Settings and reset them.After that, load Bluetooth device and everything should be OK.
