In this post, you will find some of the most efficient strategies and techniques for cleaning your toilet at home and leaving it pristine.

There is no denying the importance of learning how to clean the toilet in a genuinely effective and hygienic manner.

Even though it isn't your favorite chore, properly cleaning the bathroom, especially the toilet, is critical for your health and well-being.

Since we know that this is an area where harmful bacteria can be found, I will give you a few tricks to make sure that the toilet bowl is always sparkling. After all, there is nothing like having a clean and spotless bathroom.

Cleaning the toilet seat

To begin the seat cleaning process, use a toilet brush and disinfectant to clean the seat, hinges and lid. (This is when you need to put on gloves. If you don't have gloves, just make sure your hands are not wet.)

Using a dry cloth, wipe the toilet seat. Then wipe it with a damp cloth.

Finally, you can use a dry cloth to wipe up any leftover moisture from the previous step.

Cleaning the toilet bowl

Remove the bowl cleaner from the toilet bowl and place it on a nearby surface.

Apply the bowl cleaner to the inside of the toilet bowl, using an up-and-down motion to make sure you cover all areas equally.

Use a toilet brush to scrub the interior of the toilet bowl. Make sure you reach all areas, including underneath the rim and around any protrusions or decorative features inside of your toilet bowl (like ridges).

Let the cleaner sit in your toilet for 10 minutes before flushing it away with water.

Rinse your toilet brush thoroughly before returning it to its holder or storing it elsewhere in your bathroom until next time!

Cleaning the cistern and tank

To clean the cistern and tank:

Unscrew the lid and remove it.

Clean the lid and tank with a damp cloth.

Rinse the cloth and wipe the inside of the tank. If there's still grime, use a toilet brush to scrub away any hard-to-remove dirt.

Rinse the brush and wipe down the inside of the tank again.

Cleaning the exterior of the toilet

To clean the exterior of your toilet, first wipe the toilet with a dry cloth to remove dust and loose debris.

Next, use a disinfectant to clean the toilet. We recommend using a soft cloth and an appropriate cleaning product (such as a household disinfectant or natural cleaning solution).

Don't forget to clean around the toilet's exterior, including under its lid, around its base, behind it, and underneath it!

Repeat this process until you have thoroughly cleaned your toilet.

Extra tips for keeping your toilets clean

Use a cleaner that's safe for porcelain

Make sure there are no scratches on the surface before applying any cleaner or polish to avoid scratching them further.

Use the right tools for the job.

You don't need harsh chemicals to get a sparkling toilet bowl and rim. Try using a combination of vinegar and bicarb, which can be left in the toilet for about 30 minutes before scrubbing it clean with an old toothbrush.

Clean your toilet in an eco-friendly way

Don't use bleach, but instead, choose safer, environmentally friendly cleaning products. If you must use bleach, make sure that your bathroom is well ventilated; better still, try adding some bicarb to the mix, as this will help neutralize any chlorine fumes from the bleach.

Clean your toilet like a pro and stay safe

Do not rub too hard when cleaning, as this can damage your toilet bowl.

Don't forget to clean your toilet brush at least once a week. Disinfect it by leaving it in a solution of half water and half vinegar for about 20 minutes or overnight, then rinse thoroughly with hot water and leave it out to dry in between uses.

Be careful not to use your toilet brush on anything other than the inside of your toilet bowl—not even on your toilet seat! Use disinfectant spray or wipes on this surface instead.
