You can only upload.jpg and.jpeg images with Silhouette Studio Designer Edition and above. Silhouette Studio Lite does not allow you to upload.jpg or.jpeg files. This also only applies to the Cricut Cut File Uploader, not just the free uploader. The.svg files are like the equivalent of.png and.jpg images.
You can use any image file editing tool to work with this file such as PicMonkey, Microsoft Paint, Google Photo, Lightroom, Photoshop, and others. All you need to do is find the image that is straight forward to work with and that you can export to an image file you can zip up or email and then upload it to the Silhouette Studio site.
To get started, upload your image and choose the Silhouette Studio Tool you would like to use. You can use any of the Silhouette Studio Tools depending on your specific file type. As an example I chose the Pencil tool.
When choosing the pen tool, you can choose whether to save your image as a.svg or.dxf file. If you choose the svg file it will save the artwork as a scalable vector graphic file. If you choose the.dxf file it will save the file as a DXF file which is an electronic document file for all 3-D CAD programs.
Conversion time will vary based on your computer or device, file size, and the Silhouette Studio Tool you use. The.dxf files are a much larger file size than the.svg files. However, the.dxf files can take almost 2.5 seconds each to create compared to.svg files that create very quickly.
For those that are traditional Silhouette wearers and do have designs in Silhouette America shop you can cut silhouette files to QPRNC format and a pad file to use in your Ucut machine but you willl need to buy a conversion to QPRNC and a conversion from QPRNC to Ucut format. Or you can buy a Silhouette for those rare occasions you use your files and use the files as you see fit. An example can be seen here at SilhouetteAmerace.com .
My apologies for this video being so short, but it does go over the basics to give you some ideas on how to slice your own designs. I want you to have your own images to work with and to be able to turn around a design quickly. Also I know that the Silhouette software is a free download. As it becomes popular more apps, media and tutorials will be written for it. They aren't not free but it is an excellent tool and I want you to be able to use it and share it with others. a0fb89163a
