Can creativity save the world?
A new growth model

25 years ago, if I told that there was a technology that could connect the word and host billions and billions of data, you would have probably laughed. Now the internet became predominant and no one can imagine his life without it. So the invention of the internet changed the meaning of the world. This teaches us a couple of things: everything that we think has been there forever had not and everything we think will be there forever will not.
“There’s a way to do it better — find it.” –Thomas A. Edison
But history proves that we tend to stagnate and reject the new hypothesis. Concepts like superstitions or traditions tend to stick with us so we need to learn how to change and adapt. The new constant that we should adopt is innovation. But what to do, when all the factors like education are based on facts and having only one right answer? What to do when society tends to red flag innovators and classifies them as dangerous? What to do when religions are starting wars based on their personal interpretations of the same book? We are being told to things the right way but not to do the right things! Isn´t it weird?
This past 3 years, I had the chance to study a master of creative industries but to work in blockchain gaming in Berlin. And what I learned there completely changed my perspective on life and what was possible with the creative economy. In particular, what shocked me, is that every value I believed in was fundamental for innovation and creativity:
- Diversity
- Kindness
- Curiosity
- Equality
- Trust
- Playfulness
Now what´s really interesting is that we find also these fundamentals are smaller successful groups like family, friends, and work. Any environment built on those bases can only be healthy, innovative and more successful. And when it comes to working let me tell you that productivity skyrockets and percentages like absenteeism or sickness drop significantly. Not only that but happiness and fidelity improve by quite a margin as well.
Meanwhile, we are seeing so many countries and businesses launch an innovation program or try to implement an innovation strategy. On the other hand, only a few are basing their programs on the previously cited fundamentals. So how could someone be creative and truly free when these parameters are not provided? Creativity is a state a flow that can only be achieved when we have true balance and when the cultures collide.
Imagine yourself at a new job where your input is not being taken into considerations, where your ideas are thrown in the trash and where your work is not recognized? How can you be creative and innovative when the bigger institutions are not protecting you and letting you the chance to try and fail?
Trust is really powerful and I´m afraid that the majority of the population lost their trust in their governments and the big organizations. It´s crucial for us to unite and create innovative environments no matter how big they are: families, businesses and countries.
Unfortunately, we need to build everything from the start as not all humans are not nowadays born equal and free as well as secure. Now if we can give people a vision that could unite them and make them shine over the long term we still stand a chance to win. We are living on the verge of seeing massive changes and only we can draw the road to this future.
Imagine how you want your grandchildren to live and build a future that resembles that.
So can creativity save the wold? YES! But we need to start building the right bases NOW!
