Who has been the biggest influence in your life? What lessons did that person or those people teach you?

My parents have had the biggest influence in my life.  They have taught me a ton.  If I had to highlight one thing in particular, it would be to listen first to understand from others, your customer, your partner, or just others around you in life.

How important a role does content play in your life? Are you a full-time content creator? Why did you start creating content?

Content plays a massive role.  Everything we consume is content; blog articles, ads, that latest Netflix episode. I am a full time product manager, so if you consider new features for Nordstrom.com shoppers to interact with content, then yes I am a full time content creator.

I started writing a blog mid last year and have really enjoyed the opportunity to share what I’ve learned about product, get feedback on what I’m writing, and have interesting ideas/conversations with people across the world.

What’s the most satisfying part of being a content creator?

I write content about questions I didn’t know I had when trying to get into a product.  When new or aspiring product managers reach out asking for advice, I really appreciate both the time people take to read my content, but also the opportunity to offer what guidance I can about their situation; I find it very fulfilling.

What are you up to currently and what are your long-term career goals?

I’m currently a senior product manager at Nordstrom.  I’d like to get further into product leadership and over time grow my abilities to build cool stuff!

What drives you to create content regularly?

I’ve actually been taking a bit of a break from product management content creation while I work on a few projects outside of product management (currently focusing on real estate).

In general, I am motivated by adding value which is a big driver for my content creation.

What’s the most challenging part of being a content creator?

Being consistent.  It takes time and energy to consistently come up with new ideas, and then sit down and write them out.

How do you make sure that you aren’t affected by nasty comments and negative things said about you?

Those are never fun.  When they do happen, I try to take the time to learn about why they are being said and figure out what learnings I can take from the encounter.

Anything else you would like our audience to know about you!

I am honored to be featured on Tealfeed!

Why did you start creating content on Tealfeed?

It seems like a great platform with a great audience, so when presented with the opportunity I couldn’t pass it up.

How would you want people to remember you?

I’d say I’m a pragmatic data driven product manager motivated by making an impact and building cool things that delivers massive value.

What's success for you and when you would consider yourself to be successful?

Success is always adding value.  Most days I feel at least somewhat successful, but of course that ebbs and flows depending on the day!

To every individual who’s planning to start out as a content creator, what would you like to advise them?

Jump in and do it!  It is easier than ever.  Don’t be discouraged if you don’t get too much interaction at first.  Focus on adding value first, and readers, interactions, and feedback will come.

Few maintain consistency, few remain unique, and fewer are the ones who do both of these right, and earn a spot in Tealfeed Spotlight.
