Who has been the biggest influence in your life? What lessons did that person or those people teach you?

When I look back on my past, I really look at my high school mentors as the most positive influence I’ve had. These two women adopted me in high school. They could tell I needed them way before I was old enough to appreciate what they meant to me.

“Poovey” and Judy were two of those essential pieces. They continued to rise up in my life after high school and, today, I feel like I could drive up to their house and ask them for anything I needed. When I am fondly remembering, it’s Poovey, Judy, Chris, Cindy, Rachel, Jarod, and so many others that make up those memories. Your life is this miraculous machine, and everyone in it serves a purpose in your machine. They make you who you are.

Tell us about your childhood, what was the best part? Is there any specific incident that has largely influenced the kind of person you are today?

My great-grandmother was a light in my dark childhood. She held me close to her heart and I valued my relationship with her as a child, and still today. When she passed I was saddened, but have always valued the little things she taught me.

I still look at cemeteries as records of those who have gone before, just as she taught me. I also will never let go of her genuine love for writing and the power of words.

Where is your hometown, and what was it like when you were young?

I’m from Cynthiana, Kentucky and my hometown was so peaceful when I was a child. We had quite beautiful streets and the people were always hard-working, polite, and genuine.

How important a role does content play in your life? Are you a full-time content creator? Why did you start creating content?

I create content often but publish infrequently. I am a teacher and see my writing as a great part of my creative side to think and share the experiences that have shaped me. I spend every day trying to care for so many lives and shape the future.

I think this plays into my own personal love of science fiction. SyFy has shaped my understanding of how people interact with each other, and when I write about education I always understand that its human connection that makes learning possible.

What’s that one aspect of being a content creator no one talks about?

I think one thing that no one talks about is the desire to be genuine. It is easy to write over and over the same thing, something I work hard not to do.

So to keep that from happening I have a personal writing process that sets things aside and lets writing mature before I consider publishing it.

What’s the most satisfying part of being a content creator?

I love hearing from readers. It triggers my little happy dance.

What are you up to currently and what are your long-term career goals?

I am continuing my education by finishing my second master’s degree and beginning my specialist in education.

How do you make sure that you aren’t affected by nasty comments and negative things said about you?

I value everyone’s opinion but take none of it to heart. We live in a world where negativity is some people’s only goal in life.

Why did you start creating content on Tealfeed?

Tealfeed creates some of the best content online. I read Tealfeed for a while before becoming a content creator, and I am very happy I did.

How would you want people to remember you?

I want people to remember me as someone who inspired them. Ultimately, I want to leave people better, but, then again, I am a teacher. I think good teachers are optimists.

What's success for you and when you would consider yourself to be successful?

I am successful now, and no one can convince me differently. After all, it’s my life.

Who’s your favorite creator? Why?

I love reading Malcolm Gladwell, George Couros, Trevor Muir, and Jon Gordon.

To every individual who’s planning to start out as a content creator, what would you like to advise them?

Write, write, and then write. It’s a big world and you are a piece of the puzzle. Get up off the floor, and find your place.
