i would therefore argue that life today can offer new sources of unity between the various religions. what we have said about faith in the living god provides the basis to understand the relationship of faith in man and the birth of life. it is easy to appreciate that a single god cannot be considered exclusively as the creator of the universe and of the life of humanity. god is the eternal triune one, who is one in essence and not simply of all the three divine persons. god is the source of all beings, of everything: he alone, from his eternal power, created the heavens and the earth, the earth he did by his own word, and the heavens he did by his spirit (cf. col 1:16-17). he is the life of all creatures, who, through his spirit, created them and gave them the capacity to know and love him. it is the task of man to respond to god and to live this knowledge and love in accordance with the measure of grace offered to him. in this way, the very meaning of life, as living contact with god, will be fully re-affirmed. 2516d825b2
