Eminem has long had an interest in the nuances of race relations and the sorts of things that motivate racism, and his upcoming ninth studio album, Recovery, holds up this interest as a mirror. Marshall does not apologize for the damage he and his music have done to minority groups and the type of man, white or black, who refuses to evolve into a better man because of the privilege he or she wields, but rather insists that he isnt worthy of such labels in the first place. Its not a petty point to make, or his total redemption implied by the album title, for it hearkens back to the impetuous new-found efforts of his early career, and shows that a man of passion and temper can become more empathetic, but all this presumed by the album named after a set of tools employed for mans curing self-image. You should listen to this track, which again sounds like it has suffered from a long gestation, and you can tell how much it has benefited from time in the studio, even if a few bars feel like filler.
