A good entrepreneur represents not only his goals and ideals but the aspirations and dreams of a community. They search for a change and answer the call, in order to make an economical or social transformation. The person whose story taught me this vital lesson is Mansukhbhai Prajapati.

Born in a village in Rajkot, Gujrat he dropped out of class 10th to work in a tea stall. His family had a running tradition of pottering but they did not want Mansukh to walk on the same path because the income was negligible in the modern world. He landed a job in a tile manufacturing company where he gained experience.

After some time, an idea incubated in his mind. With support from his wife, he left his job and started his entrepreneurial journey. He set on to turn his weakness, his feeble art of pottery, into his greatest strength. He started a company named “Mitticool” in 1997 and blew everyone away with his Mitticool water filter. He took it even a step further when he brought Mitticool Refrigerator into the market which required no electricity.

MansukhbhaiPrajapati’s risk-taking ability helped thousands of potters to earn their deserving income and thousands more, who suffered from frequent electricity cuts. He took clay from the ground and constructed innovations that made his community and even his ancestors proud of him.
