I'm a little younger than Bob Marley, and I really appreciate the film and the music that he made. He was an inspiration to me. This film is very friendly, and the music that he made is very fun, and catchy. I'm looking forward to reading more about him. In the mean time I will enjoy this documentary!
As far as historical documentaries go this is one of the best! Full of many different and in depth interviews with musicians, artists and many other important people in Bob Marley's life. Sometimes the film jumps from one subject to another but in a fascinating way. This is the "official" biography of Bob Marley, and definitely worth watching. It was made by his fans and for his fans, and they leave no stones unturned in finding out more about his life. He is obviously very well known and loved by the fans, so when they appear on screen its not hard to see why. They know the music, and how to keep it interesting and keep it moving at a fast pace.
When I first watched this documentary I didn't know any of the songs or artists that were featured. But then I said fuck it and I couldn't sit through all of that boring talk about what people think are important in their life and what they were doing now. I'm still waiting for the part where they mention the reason they don't like the Guyana part of the world. If they didn't show any music, then they won't have a lot of praise. At least give us a little taste before all the praise and there be nothing to discuss. And no that will not be "One Love". There is a lot to discuss just from what we see in the film, but not enough to really go into detail. The film is about Bob Marley, and the life of a Rastafarian, and as such it should be about his music. I think it needed a whole lot more music, a much better soundtrack to take it to the next level. I was just waiting for them to get the music rolling and to jump right in to it. There are a lot of talking heads going on and although we do get some pretty interesting things from Mr. Marley's sister, I don't think this film wants to talk to anyone, and I have to say I agree with this. The documentary will have you believe that this is the first time anyone in the world has heard Bob Marley but it isn't. It is about his music, and his life. And how he got there. The hour and a half we get in that area is excellent, but we are still missing the music. That would have made it complete. 81555fee3f
