People who have a sense of purpose and derive their personal satisfaction from a job well done and in helping make other's lives easier are generally happier people.

There is almost nothing worse for a person to feel than the feeling that they are wasting their lives in endeavors that are futile and have no meaning.

This applies to jobs in technology just like it can apply to nearly any other profession. With this fundamental concept in mind, here are some ways to find personal satisfaction, reignite your passion for your goals, and find your "why" in a career in tech.

Focused Goals

Focusing on your goals involves having deep and meaningful conversations with yourself. You have to ask yourself, "What am I getting up to accomplish today?". Knowing what your want to accomplish encourages confidence and eliminates confusion.

Spend less time on futile pursuits and start being proactive in shaping your life in the way you want it to look. In short, go make your mark!

Find your identity

When people think about you, what is the first thing they think of? What are you known for? Have you created a brand or something that is uniquely you? Have you helped someone? What do people come to you for help for? What do they make a point to thank you for?

Have you made people's lives easier? Have you created your own way or always relied on others to get by in life? These are all great questions you should ask yourself.

After these deep and meaningful conversations with yourself, let your goals, your passion for achieving those goals, and your tenacity become your identity. People will notice. You will be known for something great!

Find a purpose

Do you find yourself acting a certain way at work because that is what is expected? Or are you in a place where you don't have to put on a facade or act like you are excited about a job you truly dislike?

If you are not the latter, then you could be much happier and fulfilled at work. You just have to find your purpose and quit going through the motions. When you are truly passionate about what you do, is it really even work or are you just doing what you love?

This passion could be helping people with disabilities, expressing yourself through design, expanding the availability of tech to the underprivileged, writing blogs to help others, the list is endless.

What task would you continue to do even if you didn't get paid? That is your purpose. Once you find your purpose, you can show up as your true self and not put on a facade. You'll truly want to be at work.

Find Your "Why"

Finding your "why" can be as simple as completing a sentence. Although this sentence may take some time to complete, it could change everything. Dean Bokhari explains that this sentence is, "To so that".

An example given by of one the coauthor's of Bokhari's book How to Find Your Why and Communicate Your Purpose, Simon Sinek, is "To inspire people to do the things that inspire them so that, together, we can change our world." It is with this "why" statement in mind that I wrote this post.

Thank you for reading my post! I hope you have taken something away from this that can help motivate you to do what you love. Good luck with your future endeavors!
