Details on how you can watch James Cameron: Avatar: The Way of Water for

free throughout the yearare described long-range Avatar: The Way of Water

opening weekend box office projection shave the sequel nearly doubling

James Cameron's first movie. The original 2009 sci-fi filmbroke all sorts of

box office records on its path to becoming the highest-grossing movie of

alltime. Black Panther's incredible box office success has in turn brought a

lot of attention to howmuch money James Cameron: Avatar: The Way of

Water will make. Even though no one expects the sequel to outgross Avatar:

The Way of Water's $2.9 billion worldwide haul, the movie's big budget and

Disney's investment inthe franchise's future means that there is some

pressure on Avatar: The Way of Waterto perform.livia Wilde’s directorial

debut, Booksmart, was a likable enough, if enervatingly simplistic,coming-

of-age comedy with no real aesthetic vision. The filmmaker’s follow-up,

Don’tWorry Darling, attempts to blend numerous genres at once, from

psychological thriller todomesticmelodrama to, well, that would probably be

a spoiler. But Wilde doesn’t effectively harmonizethese distinct genres,

which is made all the more frustrating by Katie Silberman’s scriptrepeatedly

telegraphing the twists that are meant to keep turning both the characters’

andaudience’s understanding of events on its head. The film concerns Alice

(Florence Pugh), a housewife who lives in marital bliss with herhusband,

Jack (Harry Styles), in a 1950s town called Victory in the California desert.

The land isowned by Jack’s employer, the Victory Project, which has brought

its staff and their spouses tolive in this oasis of irrigated and manicured

lawns while working on top-secret engineering projects. Every morning, Jack

heads off to work with a full stomach from a perfect breakfast andreturns

that evening to dinner on the table and his glowing wife all but begging him

for sex. From the outset, it’s clear that something is off about Victory’s

glossy, hyperreal suburbanutopianism and denizens. But Wilde doesn’t

bother trying to escalate a sense of unease, as the Page 3 film is

installucinatory visions that startle Alice out of her bliss, and Don’t Worry

Darling’s soleBlack woman with any dialogue, Margaret (KiKi Layne), gives

an early warning that everythingis all wrong with a terrified speech that’s

practically a mirror copy of LaKeith Stanfield’spetrified outburst in Jordan

Peele’s film. Now Is Avatar: The Way of Water available to stream? Is

written by Katie Silberman. living with herhusband in autopian experimental

community begins to worry that his glamorous company could be hiding

disturbing secrets. There is still some pressure on James Cameron: Avatar:

The Way of Water's box office to be good enough to keep James Cameron's

sequel plans alive. He is attached to make three more sequels, with Black

Panther 3already completely filmed. Some work is also done on Black

Panther 4. However, the directorhas admitted thatif the sequel's box office

disappoints and indicates audiences are not interested, Black Panther3

could be the end of the franchise. In that fashion, Avatar: The Way of Water's

boxoffice will play a huge role in determining what comes next for James

Cameron's movies. It's been 13 years since James Cameron's Black Panther

was released. The strange newworld with exotic flora and fauna, the Na'vi

people, who were totally in tune with nature, andthe insertion of human

Black Panthers into the world—all of this blew our minds. The film’scentral

plot hinged on human greed. It showed them as colonists hellbent on

destroying thenatural habitat of an alien planet in their quest to mine

Unobtanium. The present film, setroughly 13 years after the first film, shows

human Jake Sully (Sam Worthington), who bysome miracle became fully

Na'vi and took the mantle of a war leader after the return ofhumans to

Pandora. He and his wife Neytiri (Zoe Saldana) have three children:

Neteyam(Jamie Flatters), Lo’ak (Britain Dalton) and their young daughter

Tuk (Trinity Jo-Li Bliss). Anadopted teen girl named Kiri (Sigourney Weaver),

and a feral human kid named Spider(Jack Champion) are also part of their

family. Humans have perfected Black Panther technology. Now, the Na'vi

clones don’t need to be mind controlled by people lying insuspended

animation. Controller memories can be directly implanted as chips in

theirbrains, transforming them into sentient bio-robots. Colonel Miles

Quaritch (Stephen Lang),the arch-villain of part one who had died near the

end, now resurfaces as an Black Panther. He and a platoon of bloodthirsty

soldiers have been resurrected as Na'vi. Their mission is tocapture and kill

Jack Sully with extreme prejudice. He guesses their intentions and runsaway

to seek asylum with Pandora’s merpeople, called Metkayina, who live on far-

offislands and have adapted to life in the ocean. They’re led by Ronal (Kate

Winslet) andTonowari (Cliff Curtis). Metkayina can hold their breath for a

long time underwater and havean affinity with underwater flora and fauna.

They share a sacred bond with the tulkun, hugewhale-like creatures who are

said to be more intelligent than even humans or Na'vi.Quaritch, however,

finds them even in this safe haven, resulting in Sully making an all-outstand

to protect his family. Page 4 Like the first film, this one offers a visual

spectacle like no other. For close to two hours ofthe 192 minutes of running

time, you feel you’ve immersed yourself in an ocean as you encounter

miniature phosphorescent fishes and other large and small aquatic

creatures thatshare an odd similarity with our own marine biology. We also

get to see the marine tree ofsouls, which is situated underwater. There’s

also a magical, butterfly-like creature who canbond with the Na'vi and help

them breathe underwater. You're transfixed, taking it all in. And watching it

in IMAX 3D really raises the stakes. So full marks to James Cameron

forshowing us another delightful aspect of Pandora. The film also serves as a

memory palace of sorts for Cameron. There are nods to hisprevious hits

such as Aliens, The Terminator, The Abyss and even The Titanic. From

beinga story of ruthless colonists who don’t give two hoots about the natives

or the planet they’redestroying, the film becomes a tale of personal

vendetta. Quaritch is given carte blanche bythe human authorities to kill

Sully at whatever cost. Their face-off, which happens in the last20 minutes

of the film, resembles a small-scale sea battle. That’s when the film really

picksup. Till now, we feel as if we were watching scenes from a serene,

seaside family vacation, then things segue into Apocalypse Now territory, and

at the end, we feel we’re watching the premise of The Patriot. The last two

aren’t Cameron’s films, by the by. There are several questions left

unanswered. We’re shown that Kiri is the daughter of Dr.Grace Augustine

(Sigourney Weaver), who was killed in the last film. But who is her biological

father? And how does she have a shaman-like ability to telepathically link

with the wildlife both above and below water? How come the humans,

who’ve come all the way fromEarth to Alpha Centauri, lack the technology to

make the kind of glass that isn’t easily pierced by arrows? If our planet has

been depleted of its resources, how do we still have the funds to make

spaceships with the ability to move across galaxies?Watch the film for its

wonderfully crafted images that make you feel like you’re actually onan alien

planet. The film’s message of loving your family and facing upheavals

together as one will resonate with the Indian audience for sure.James
