“Class, please use your paper to draw the house you want to live in when you’re older.”
Just before a little girl was about to start drawing, she raised her hand.
“Is something the matter?” the art teacher asked matter-of-factly.
“This paper isn’t big enough for the house I want to live in when I’m older.” the little girl said.
“There isn’t big enough paper. Draw the house on the paper you have like everyone else.” the teacher sternly explained.
The little girl began drawing a house, but it didn’t feel right. So, she threw her paper in the trash and started drawing a big house on the table in front of her!
The art teacher grabbed her hand and took her to the principal’s office, who then called her mom and had her taken home.
The little girl and her mom didn’t say one word to each other for the entire car ride.
When they finally arrived home, the little girl’s mom went to the closet and stapled together 20 pieces of paper, creating a gigantic space for her daughter to draw.
The little girl drew the biggest house she possibly could.
The next day, the little girl and her mom walked into the art teacher’s room and placed the drawing right on top of her desk and left. On the car ride home, the little girl’s mom looked at her daughter and said,
“Don’t ever let anyone tell you there isn’t big enough paper.”
