My Life Was Transformed After I Learned this Leadership Principle
To cook any meal, you would require certain ingredients. Without ingredients, you wouldn’t be able to cook a good meal. As a matter of fact, the quality of a meal is determined by the effective application of its ingredients. In the same way, the quality of any type of leadership is determined by the effective application of the VIP-CI leadership principles.

In principle, the VIP-CI leadership attributes, which I’ve always promoted in my articles and seminars, are a group of “ingredients”. In other words, they are a group of principles, which a leader has to put together in order to create effective leadership.
But you may be wondering, “What exactly is VIP-CI?”
Simply put, VIP-CI is an acronym for VISION, INTELLIGENCE, PASSION, COURAGE and INTEGRITY. For effective leadership to take place, all FIVE of these leadership attributes must be deployed by a leader.
So, the VIP-CI leadership principles function like ingredients because they work in a precise way. That is, they are a group of ideas that have to be put together in a specific order. You should NEVER apply the VIP-CI leadership attributes at random.
Even though they are effective leadership attributes, they will be ineffective if they are used haphazardly. You see, just as it is necessary to deploy all of the VIP-CI leadership attributes, it is also important to use them accurately.
Here’s my point: if you are going to succeed in applying the VIP-CI leadership attributes, you must act like a chef.
A leader needs to bring together the VIP-CI leadership attributes in order to be effective.
Like the leader, a good cook doesn’t just start cooking without having the right ingredients in the kitchen. Cooks don’t just assemble the right ingredients; they make use of the ingredients in an orderly manner. Though, they assemble the right ingredients, they don’t use the ingredients without a certain procedure.
To make a good meal, the chef knows that he needs to be systematic because a tiny mistake can ruin the whole meal. An extra spoon of salt can ruin the whole food in the pot even if every other ingredient has been measured appropriately. Or a particular ingredient might be mistakenly used at the wrong time.
To cook a good meal, all of the ingredients have to be employed at the right moment. Both the food ingredients and the VIP-CI leadership attributes require accurate timing in order for them to yield the desired result.
No matter how talented you are as a leader, if you don’t use the VIP-CI leadership attributes correctly, you would not be effective, in the end.
