The reasons to eat a whole-food, plant-based vegan diet are endless. But let’s consider only one: Meat kills. You may laugh thinking “of course, meat kills animals.” But I am referring to you. Eat vegan solely for your health.

According to the Center for Disease Control, CDC, at least pre-Pandemic, 1 out of 4 Americans died from heart disease. Slightly less than that number die of stroke. The number one contributing factor to heart disease and stroke is hypertension or high blood pressure.

Two main reasons people have heart disease or stroke are high blood pressure (140/90 mmHg) and cholesterol, which are common, deadly, and preventable. The Center for Disease Control. ( emphasis added.)

To be clear, you can’t have high cholesterol if you don’t eat meat or dairy. Pretty simple. Cholesterol comes from eating animals and the products they produce, like eggs, milk, and cheese. Hypertension as well, skyrockets (pun not intended) with the consumption of meat and dairy. So, in short:

Meat + Dairy = High Cholesterol + Hypertension

High Cholesterol + Hypertension = Heart Disease + Strokes

Heart Disease + Strokes = The Grim Reaper

At an Author’s Group recently a friend remarked that no one would choose to abuse alcohol, because no one would choose to kill themselves. Yet, those who abuse alcohol are killing themselves. No large contingency of the population argues otherwise. Later, I quipped to one of them. “90% of the developed world chooses to kill themselves every day. Because they choose to eat meat. And 90% of the World died of meat-eating until perhaps the recent Pandemic. Everyone knows that.”

Eat vegan solely for your health.

My friend looked at me intently. “Everyone doesn’t know that. They don’t know that.”

Okay, now you know that. Now you have no excuse. Consider yourself informed.
