In sixth grade, my mom and aunt rejected me before I auditioned for a singing show. They thought I was not that good. That was the start and end of my music career. A year back, I met a guy who teaches music and is living a good life. His business did not spiral down during the pandemic. Thanks to technology, he continued to take classes online. It is growing online and offline now.

Why the need for music will never die?

Studies have shown that when we listen to music, our brains release dopamine. It makes us happy. In one study published in Nature Neuroscience, led by Zatorre, researchers found that dopamine release is strongest when a piece of music reaches an emotional peak and the listener feels chills — the spine-tingling sensation of excitement and awe. That may explain why we like music.

I use music to relax or to distract myself from my emotional triggers. I also listen to music when I exercise, which helps me to focus too. It made total sense when I read this research. Music appears to be a common accompaniment to exercise, whether in the gym, park, or street. Nikol et al. in South East Asia explore the potential physical benefits of synchronous exercise to music, especially in hot and humid conditions. Their randomized crossover study (2019) reports that “time-to-exhaustion” under the synchronous music condition was 2/3 longer compared to the no-music condition for the same participants. In addition, perceived exertion was significantly lower, by an average of 22% during the synchronous condition.

It is the path to self-expression. One of the ways to show love is through music. So many songs are about love, break-ups, brotherhood, revenge, etc. Music is how humans express themselves.

COVID pandemic and related news increased anxiety among worldwide people. But music and songs helped gave hope and united people to fight till they succeed. Music remains a powerful way of uniting people:

• national anthems connect crowds at sporting events
• protest songs stir a sense of shared purpose during marches
• hymns build group identity in houses of worship
• love songs help prospective partners bond during courtship
• lullabies enable parents and infants to develop secure attachments.

Ways to earn money?

1. Become a composer- A composer is an artist who writes music to be played or performed by musicians. A classical composer might work by writing out musical notation and trying things out on the piano.
2. Become a Music Producer- A music producer, or record producer, assists an artist with their recording project, bringing their vision to fruition and guiding their sound along the way.
3. Become a singer- We all know about singers like Taylor Swift, Justin Bieber, Ariana Grande, etc.
4. Become a Music Writer- A songwriter is involved in creating a song that has lyrics and a melody.
5. Become a professional musical instrument player- You can take up any musical instrument like violin, piano, guitar, mandolin, etc.
6. Start your Band- BTS, is one of the famous current bands. Others are The Beatles, Guns N’ Roses, Black Pink list is endless.
7. Start online courses- You must have seen online guitar courses, piano. An online singing class will also earn you money.
8. Start a teaching class- You can start an institute, or become a teacher at a school, or start a class in your community.
9. Become a Music Director- music directors oversee all musical aspects of a musical theater or opera production, including casting performers, hiring the orchestra, rehearsing singers and orchestra members, and conducting the orchestra in performance.
10. Become a Mix Engineer- A mixing engineer (or mix engineer) is responsible for mixing or combining different sonic elements of an auditory piece into a complete rendition (also known as final mix or mixdown), whether in music, film, or any other content of the audio.

Perform and Earn tips,

Participate in competitive shows.
