The nominal mass of the Raduga modules was about 2,400 metric tons.* The modules were named after Earth rivers or valleys. The assembly of the modules began at the Baikonur Cosmodrome on 28 February 1998 and was completed on 8 April, 2000, and was launched by Proton-M rocket from Baikonur Cosmodrome at 21:14:57 on 6 August 2000. The launch was successful and main stage and the Raduga modules were separated from the second stage at 08:23 GMT.
During the thirty eight days for which Progress M-9 was docked, Mir was in an orbit of approximately 379 by 396 kilometres (205 by 214 nmi), inclined at 51.6 degrees.[1] Progress M-9 undocked from Mir at 01:53:00 GMT on 30 September, and was deorbited few hours later at 07:45, to a destructive reentry over the Pacific Ocean.[1][5] The Raduga capsule landed in the Kazakh Soviet Socialist Republic at 08:16:24 GMT.[6]
the Raduga 402 flight made three more translation maneuvers, to a circular orbit about 1,000 kilometres above the equator, before beginning its deorbit burn at 13:38 GMT on 28 October, 1998.[25] The deorbit burn was intended to accelerate the spacecraft on a tangential, approximately 15 degree path into the Earth for a safe ground impact in the Indian Ocean.[25] The deorbit burn began at approximately 1. a0fb89163a
