THE STORY OF 17 YEARS OLD ESTABLISHING THEIR OWN COMPANY

Who knew what started as an interest in Robotics and Drones for a 13-year-old, would someday take a turn to form a company. One of the co-founder Harshil, who was in 8th standard, when he realized his passion in this field, even though he had the least idea about it. He always fantasized when his older brother, a B-tech student, worked on his science projects. He always sneak-peaked on his brother, whenever he could.

Harshil then started to attend as many science competition as he could, beginning with IIT Delhi’s competitions after completing his 8th standard. He formed a group with like-minded people. He never stopped after that, he met people who taught him the basics of programming, coding, and Robotics.

He started making small Robots like ‘Floor Mopping robots’, and single programming robots. With a supportive family who believed in the potential he holds, Harshil got to grab every little opportunity of learning his passion for robotics. Later after years of learning and practice, he was 16 when he decided to establish a company of his own along with his few friends and like-minded people.

It was then when he met with Rohit Dayani, and together they established the company, Vicube.

THE DRONE PROGRAMMED TO HELP DURING NATURAL CALAMITIES: THE CONTRIBUTION OF THE YOUNG ENTREPRENEUR HARSHIL

Harshil made various Drones and robots, one such innovation ‘Medibot’, was selected under ‘Young Scientist India 2017’  held at Chennai. This drone was programmed for times of natural disasters, where providing human support was difficult and way too costly. It was designed in such a manner that it could provide medical supplies through aerial support technology. It was cost-effective and did not require human to work alongside it, but could be controlled by sitting in a safe place.

MediBot used maps to track the location affected by Natural disasters, to drop the medical supplies in sensitive areas. MediBot worked in an autonomous manner and could be controlled by a laptop or tablet to form a ground control station. This bot could drop basic necessities such as food, bandages, medical supply and first-aid kits.

THE SMARTEE SHIRT: TAKING HEALTHCARE INNOVATION TO THE NEXT LEVEL.

‘Smartee Shirt’ is a health monitoring shirt, for medical patients with problem of breathing and pulse rate disorders. It was started as a small personal project for Harshil. Later, after being appreciated at the national level for its medical importance, Harshil realized the potential and requirements of this innovation. He understood that it would take more than just one mind to go ahead with the product development.

After the team for Vicube was assembled, all of them started to work on SmarTee Shirt. This T-shirt can provide the medical state of the person wearing it, and it can be monitored from anywhere from the world. The current prototype of the shirt can track the Pulse Rate, Body temperature, ECG Level, Strength level, Breathing Rate, etc.

This shirt also comes with a ‘Panic Button’ for the user or the patient, in case he/she is feeling distress or abnormality of the situation. This button sends an immediate warning message to the person who monitors the user’s condition, when it goes out of the suitable range.

The SmarTee shirt gained attention from all over India and got the attention of every media channel and newspaper. The product is still in the development stage, with each prototype bringing something new to the table. It is deemed to be a revolution in the healthcare sector.

THE FOUNDER’S PERCEPTION AND MESSAGE FOR THOSE STRUGGLING TO FIND THEIR DREAMS

Harshil Anand, co-founder.
Harshil Anand, co-founder.

You don’t need to run behind our education system, there are tons of other things you could explore than burning your midnight oil for IITs. It might not be the best fit for you. Just explore different things and do what you love to do and eventually you will know what’s best for you. That job won’t make you forcefully work, but you will wake up like a baby every other hour to make it happen. I always wanted to become a pilot, since I was a kid and eventually my dreams grew up on me. And today that dream of becoming a pilot turned into getting my own private jet.”

I HAD TWO OPTIONS, EITHER TO FLY IN THE DIRECTION OF SOMEONE’S ESTABLISHED PATH OR LEAD IT. I CHOOSE THE SECOND ONE, AND BECAME THE PILOT OF MY OWN DESTINATION.
