Have you woken up one day and realized your life is on autopilot? It feels like nothing is under your control but somehow you were the one who put yourself in this situation.

You may have been passionate about several things but for you, the smallest of steps is the biggest of struggles.

Things worsen when you open Instagram or LinkedIn and see how ‘successful’ your peers are.

This does sound depressing, and if you’ve been through it you know it is.

Honestly, there are things that people don’t want the world to know:

  1. No one has their life figured out.
  2. In the words of Frank Underwood, “After all, we are nothing more or less than what we choose to reveal of ourselves”
  3. Every successful personality has been through tough times, they just don’t want you knowing about it.

Now that you’ve understood what’s going on, let’s talk about you.

You still feel that you’re mediocre and are under the impression that you haven’t achieved much.

To understand how to escape mediocrity, let’s see why people remain in mediocrity.

A person who has never failed, has never tried anything new. ~ Albert Einstein

Most people are terrified of the thought of failure and are unwilling to face it. Failures aren’t the end. They are the experiences you learn from.

I think it would be fair to compare success with roses. Sure, the petals are beautiful but to get there, you have to get past the thorns. You wouldn’t know that had you not gone for the thorn first, right?

The reality is, if you want to succeed, you must learn how to fail.

There are other perks to failing like:

  1. You’ll know your potential
  2. You’ll learn and grow as a person.
  3. You become more humble
  4. You’ll find the right direction.

When someone says a task is difficult or impossible, you should be the first one to take the responsibility to complete it. No matter what direction it goes, it’ll always be a success. You’ll be the person who knows how it works, and you’re the person who’s set the benchmark. And people will always look up to the way you’ve done it.

That’s the weird thing about us humans. We always compete with each other for the leftovers, like hyenas fighting each other for the remains after the lion is done with his meal.

This is ignorance. The lesser knowledge you have about something, the higher you see yourself and start competing with everyone. And the results can easily be described by the following quote.

Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.

Winners act like winners before they become winners

No one is good at anything from the moment they were born. Everyone had to work their ass off every. single. day. That’s how they're good at what they do.

Believe in yourself, act like a winner and take yourself seriously.

Your mind is a problem-solving machine. It processes whatever data is fed into it. Give it video games, it’ll tell you how to win. Give it real-world problems like global warming, it’ll save humanity.

Expose your brain to the information and ideas you think are valuable and see the wonders it creates.

You may be impressed by all of this and start doing all of the above. But who are you doing it for?

Are you doing it for the fame? Are you doing it for the money? Or are you doing it to improve yourself and help the people around you? Are you trying to create an impact on society?

Whenever you do something, don’t do it for fame or money. I get it. You need cash to survive. However, once you start running behind cash, you won’t be able to stop and trust me, it isn’t worth it. Whatever you do, do it for yourself and your community. Helps in the long run.

Moment spent being jealous, is a moment wasted

Many successful people have always stressed how limited your time is. In fact, it doesn’t really hit you until it’s all gone.

If you constantly waste time looking at the actions of others, you will not have time for yourself.

A better description could be that being jealous and resentful is like drinking poison and expecting others to die.

You could even compare it with driving. You have to focus on the road. If you distract yourself even for a second, you’re gonna crash.

Instead of looking at others success and being jealous of them, you could better utilize that time working on yourself.

Although no one can go back and make a brand new start, anyone can start from now and make a brand new ending ~ Carl Bard
