Our pick of things to do in London in August 2022
Notting Hill Carnival, 26th - 29th August
A main player in London’s calendar, our pick of activities and events starts with Notting Hill Carnival, which runs across the Bank Holiday weekend at the end of August. The carnival has become known as Europe’s biggest street festival and combines food with music and a contagiously exciting atmosphere.
The Queen’s State Rooms, August
A stone’s throw from the hotels in Hyde Park, in August 2022 visitors can book a tour of Buckingham Palace’s state rooms in honour of the Jubilee celebrations.
BBC Proms, August
Perfect for a night out, book yourself dinner at one of the restaurants in Hyde Park and then wander through the park to the Royal Albert Hall for the BBC Proms. Classical music aplenty, this is the perfect stopping point for a classy night out.
Ice Cream Festival, 19th August to 4th September
An annual celebration of the cold stuff, the Ice Cream Festival in Covent Garden sees producers come together to sell their wares and share samples of their weird and wonderful flavours. The perfect place to cool down after a walk through the city or time spent on the tube.
London Craft Beer Festival, 12th – 13th August
What more do you need to know? Head to Tobacco Dock and immerse yourself in the joy of beer.
Carnaby Summer Festival, August
Taking place on Carnaby Street just behind the hotels near Oxford Street London, this festival combines everything that locals and tourists love about Carnaby Street – from the fashion to the food and everything in between.
Outdoor Attractions
If there was ever a good time to try out some of London’s top outdoor attractions, it’s in August when the weather is more consistent, and the streets are filled with a positive summer atmosphere. If you’re with family, booking one of the boat trips along the Thames is a great way to see the city from a different perspective. Another idea is to book yourself on an open top bus or take in the East side of London from the top of the O2 with the walkover.
The Slide at the ArcelorMittal Orbit in Stratford is perfect for thrill seekers, or you could spend a day at ZSL London zoo among the creatures who call the site (located in Regents Park) home.
August is a great time to be in London, so pack your sun cream, book a few experiences, and immerse yourself in al the city has to offer.
