Windows 10 relies on UEFI, an update of the BIOS chip on your PC. If you have a different motherboard or something like that, the computer might not boot up a Windows 10 installation PROPERLY. If you can get it to boot, when the Windows installer loads up, there will be a choice whether to continue to your settings or reformat your computer. If you select the reformat everything, you'll have to start over. If you select to continue, you'll have a choice between Windows 10 Home, or Windows 10 Pro. If you select the latter, make sure to hold down any Windows keys (printscreen, insert, etc) while you are selecting the install. Otherwise, it might not perform a reformat of your computer. If you don't, you'll have to start over.
With Windows 10, you can upgrade to the next edition of Windows by clicking through a new, more simplified Windows 8-style installation process. You'll start with the same Microsoft guided setup Windows did on the original purchase of the computer. At the end of the setup you'll receive a product key to make the final move to Windows 10 and the remainder of your original proof of purchase.
You can sell your Windows product key to consumer websites such as VoucherCodes, eBay and Amazon or to Windows resellers. Be sure to use trusted sellers with a proven record of delivering. Search for "Windows Product Key" on most sites to locate good sellers. Remember that you are not clearing this product key, and you can use it any way you want - you just need to keep track of it.
I did a clean install of Windows 8.1 Enterprise and cannot get past the change product key requirement. After probing around I found this article which states it is impossible to change the product key. Are they incorrect?
This video demonstrates how one can change the Windows 10 Product Key during the installation, using the "DISM" command. First, I will show you the command line way of doing this. The command can be found in the "Disk Management" app in the Start Menu or in a CMD window. You can run it from the "Computer Management" app inside the Start Menu, too. a0fb89163a
